"KAREHA – Dancing Withered Leaves" — a poetic sashiko design from NONA of Tokyo that captures the gentle motion of falling leaves. It features kuguri stitch (くぐり刺し), a traditional Japanese technique where thread is woven through existing stitches to build depth and texture. Ideal for mindful stitching, natural tones and the quiet elegance of Japanese needlework.
Kit includes
- NONA naturally dyed embroidery thread (exact amount for the pictured color arrangement)
- Printed instructions with a full-size stitching diagram
- DARUMA sashiko sampler cloth with 5 mm grid guide
- Sashiko needle
You will need a needle threader. Thread usage guide: outer frame approx. 1.3 m, cross approx. 20 m, small flowers approx. 20 m, kuguri stitch approx. 25 m.
About naturally dyed thread: hand-dyed with plant dyes, so gentle color variation is part of its charm. Store away from strong light, wash gently with neutral detergent and dry in the shade. Pattern for private use only.
