Everything you need to stitch two navy sashiko coasters, from Olympus in Japan. The cloth arrives pre-printed with the pattern, so there is no measuring or marking — you just thread up and go.

This is hitomezashi, the one-stitch branch of sashiko, where simple running stitches on a grid build up into surprisingly intricate geometry. Olympus sequences the two coasters as a short course: the first sticks to straight vertical and horizontal rows, the second adds diagonals. Each takes roughly two to three hours.
