Learn the sewing skills that will help you achieve a better fit and extend the life of your favorite clothes! In this hands-on alterations class, you'll work on your own garments while learning practical techniques you can use again and again.
Class 1: Hemming
This class will start with a brief overview of fit and how to measure for hems. We will then cover techniques for hemming pants in general, special tricks for denim hems, blind hems (for dress slacks), and baby roll hems for skirts and button-down shirts.
Participants will get a chance to practice each technique briefly, and then get to work on a specific item they have brought from home that needs hemmed.
Prerequisite: general knowledge of threading and operating a sewing machine.
Audience: Adults
Sessions: One 2-hour sessions
Materials: Please bring a pair of pants to hem.
