Keep your furry friend warm and stylish this season! In this fun and adventurous-beginner sewing class, you’ll learn how to create a custom-fit dog coat from start to finish. We’ll guide you through cutting your pattern, and assembling a cozy, durable coat your pup will love. Bring your dog’s measurements and your creativity—your four-legged friend will thank you! This pattern works well with scraps.
This pattern will fit dogs with a back length of 8-28". Please bring the following 3 measurements to class:
- measurement from the base of the neck along the spine to the base of the tail
- chest girth
- neck girth
Audience: Confident beginners and intermediate sewists. Basic machine-sewing skills are required.
Sessions: One 4-hour session
Materials:
Pattern will be provided. Fabric needs will depend on the size you make. We will not be quilting during this class but you can use a pre-made quilt.
- 1/2 yard to 1 yard of outer fabric - canvas, twill, denim, nylon, jacquard, Gore-Tex or wool or a piece of a quilt (if you use a quilt you will not need a lining fabric)
- 1/2 yard-1 yard of lining fabric: Sherpa, fleece, flannel or quilting cotton
- 1 yard of 1" hook and loop velcro without adhesive
- 1/2 yard of fabric for binding
