We took the bikes out on the Perkiomen Trail this weekend, all four of us, and for the first time in ages nobody whined about the heat (it's usually me). There was actual cool in the air, the first real hint of fall.
The kids are heading out of town for a few weeks with Karen and Frank, so the house goes quiet for a bit and I get a real stretch of shop time in the new space. You'll be seeing a lot more of me behind the counter.
We've got one blissful week off from summer campers, and then Joe starts garment week. If you're passing by, stop in and take a peek — just tread lightly and don't break his flow. Wrangling eight kids around heavy machinery is quite the task.

Two makes for the first cool nights of the season
A reversible jumbo tote for hauling it all home
Do we need another tote bag? No, but also yes. One bag, two fabrics, and no wrong side. A breezy cotton tank you'll actually wear
Knitting a tank in late summer is ballsy. This one's seamless and top-down in cotton, light and easy on the hands. Isager Palet is a matte cotton with good stitch definition and pretty colors; hold it with Soft if you want a little drape.

New Classes Just Added
Knit T-Shirt Class: Sew with a Serger — finally stop being afraid of the serger.
Intro to Lace Knitting — yarnovers, decreases, and holes on purpose.
Adult Class: Beginner Drop Spindle — make your own yarn from a stick and some fluff, ancient and satisfying. Custom hand dyed yarns by our shopgirl, Lauren of Little Fiber Co are included in the class. Don't have FOMO.
Knitting Circles — Tuesdays and Fridays are new! with help on hand if you're stuck.
Rhinebeck 2026: Antipodes Sweater — a knit-along aimed at a finished sweater by festival season.

Machines — we sell them and I fix them. Something I never thought I could do, but just like all handiwork…so satisfying. In-house repair is Janome only, from $75, with a 30-day labor warranty.

This one's been rattling around my head for years, and I think it's finally time. A quilt pieced from worn-out jeans — every shade of blue you've ever owned, a back pocket left on here and there for character. The closet purge has already turned up something like 47 pairs headed for the donate pile. I'm starting there. And then I fell down a second rabbit hole: shirting quilts, made from my husband's old work shirts. One for each kid. It's too good not to follow through.
A Few Things Bringing Us Joy
Watching: the summer tennis swing on in the background, US Open buildup starting to feel real.
Reading: Quick and interesting thrift book – Shadow Baby.
Eating: tomatoes on everything (as we do in summer), and Linvilla peaches almost here — their Peach & Sunflower Festival is Aug 8.
Doing a little good: a major house purge while the kids are away. Good for me, good for Goodwill.
